April 2017 Meeting Recap

Last night’s county Democratic Party meeting was an astounding success! We swore in our new elected county party leadership, talked about our vision for the 2018 election, and talked about some great opportunities to get involved right now. Turnout was so great that we ran out of chairs… a great problem to have!

2018 may seem like it’s a long way away, but it’s really right around the corner… and we need to make sure we’re ready.

Dorothea White, county party chair, identified several crucial needs for the party, both in the near term and the longer-term:

  • The county party’s first vice chair resigned from office on Monday, citing a busy schedule. We’re looking for someone to step up to take this important role.
  • Our county party secretary, Amber Harmon, and our county party treasurer, Libbie Griffin, need an assistant secretary and treasurer, respectively, to back them up when they’re not available.
  • Third vice chair James Gilmore is putting together a communications committee, to coordinate with the county executive board on a strategic communications plan and coordinate and manage the local party’s various communications channels.
  • We need people to step up and run for office! There are a number of local elected positions that need candidates, and the time to get started is now. If you’re considering running, or know someone who would make a great candidate, please let us know!

If you would like to step up and get involved in any of these areas, please contact us.
