The NC-03 primary election took place on Tuesday, April 30. On the Democratic side, Allen Thomas won with 50% of the vote, but on the Republican side, no candidate achieved the 30% vote total to avoid a runoff. Therefore, there will be a Republican runoff primary between the top two Republican candidates on Tuesday, July 9, with the general election to be held on September 10.
Republican primary runoff – July 9
Since Allen Thomas won the Democratic nomination outright in the April 30 primary, the only ballots available in the July runoff primary will be Republican ballots.
