Craven County Centennial Suffrage Celebration

Outside the Craven County Administration Building (406 Craven St., New Bern) on Saturday October 17th at 2PM, women from Craven and Pamlico Counties gathered to celebrate the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage in North Carolina.  Attendees heard stirring words from Brenda George, candidate for Judge of Superior Court; Dorothea White, candidate for N.C. House of Representatives; Carinna Smith, candidate for Pamlico County Register of Deeds; Sherri Richard, Craven County Register of Deeds; Libbie Griffin, candidate for N.C. Senate; Bee Mayo, organizer of 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage events; and Coleen Casper.  Masks were required for the gathering, and signs were in abundance calling attention to current events that make Women’s Suffrage relevant today.
