In 2016, Mike Morgan, who was born and raised here in New Bern, defied the odds and won election to the North Carolina Supreme Court, where he now sits as an associate justice. Justice Morgan has deep ties to Craven County; his father was the first African-American mayor of New Bern.

We’ll be welcoming him back to his hometown with a day of celebration on November 4, culminating in the inaugural Wainwright Dinner where Justice Morgan will be delivering remarks as our guest of honor.

The Wainwright Dinner is our annual fundraising dinner, renamed to honor Rep. William Wainwright (1947-2012), who faithfully represented Craven County in the North Carolina General Assembly for over twenty years.
