Mike Morgan Day

In 2016, Mike Morgan, who was born and raised here in New Bern, defied the odds and won election to the North Carolina Supreme Court, where he now sits as an associate justice. Justice Morgan has deep ties to Craven County; his father was the first African-American mayor of New Bern.

We’ll be welcoming him back to his hometown with a day of celebration on November 4, culminating in the inaugural Wainwright Dinner where Justice Morgan will be our guest of honor. Here’s all that’s happening that day:

12:00 PM: Picnic for teens with Justice Morgan at the New Bern Boys & Girls Club, 1203 Queen St. Contact CCDP treasurer Libbie Griffin at treasurer@cravendemocrats.org for details.

2:30 PM: Free reception at St. Peter’s A.M.E. Zion Church, 617 Queen St. Justice Morgan will be greeting old friends and new ones… please join us and bring your friends! There is no cost for this event.

6:00 PM: Cocktail reception at a private home.

7:00 PM: Wainwright Dinner at the Flame, with keynote address from Justice Morgan. This is the Craven County Democratic Party’s annual fundraising dinner, renamed to honor Rep. William Wainwright (1947-2012), who faithfully represented Craven County in the North Carolina General Assembly for over twenty years.

The reception at St. Peter’s is free, but there is a cost for the cocktail reception and Wainwright Dinner, with proceeds to benefit the Craven County Democratic Party. If you’re interested in attending the cocktail reception and the Wainwright Dinner, please contact CCDP treasurer Libbie Griffin at treasurer@cravendemocrats.org.
