The heart of the Democratic Party is the precinct organization. These are neighborhood Democratic groups, devoted to making our neighborhoods better by raising up great Democratic candidates and getting out the vote in our neighborhoods. Your voting precinct — your Election Day polling place — is also your Democratic Party precinct.

Craven County Headquarters is OPEN for business! Fridays 1-5PM, and Saturdays 10AM-2PM from Friday March 25 until May 14.

The name “Twilight March” was chosen to emphasize the metaphoric “sunsetting” of women’s bodily autonomy under the law. The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments in December testing a Mississippi law that bans abortions after 15 weeks, a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade. The New Bern event was one of more than 600 similar gatherings and rallies taking place nationwide October 2.

A growing number of folks in our community are concerned about the Commission’s continuing drift to the fringes.  Here in Craven County, we need a Commission that cares about all citizens and devotes its attention to real county business.

The redistricting process has been held behind closed doors allowing politicians to decide their voters by splitting up our communities, putting communities together with different concerns and needs causing a split in our voting power and creating districts and maps that do not represent us and where we live.

Although we were not successful in getting them to take no action on the resolution, we made an impact with the number of people, over 1,000, that voiced their opinions against it. It is important to speak out to our elected officials to make sure they know how we, their constituents, feel about their actions or lack of actions.

In a symbolic gesture, the Craven County Commissioners have agreed to hold a vote August 2, 2021 on a resolution opposing the teaching or promotion of critical race theory and several other educational tools that seek to shed light on the country’s troubled racial history. We the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge the Craven County Commissioners to not take any actions regarding CRT or other educational tools regarding our racial history.

Our government is elected by the people and for the people.  They represent us.  Therefore it is our duty to tell them how we feel about issues that are important to us.  If we do not speak up, our voices will not be heard.

This community crisis could actually offer an opportunity to work together regardless of political affiliation if enough people would work to ensure the best for the children of Craven County. Positive first-person testimonies are the best course of action at this time.
